Wheelchair Accessible Villa Costa Blanca Spain

Where is the villa and how do we get there ?

The villa is on the Costa Blanca of Spain, close to the town of Javea (Xabia). You can fly or drive to Spain. If you choose to fly, you preferably need to fly into Alicante or Valencia airports. You will also need a hire car from the airport to get to the villa, it takes just over an hour. If you want to drive from the UK, you can take the 24hr ferry to Bilbao or Santander, then take the 9 hour motorway drive across Spain to Javea. Alternatively you could take the longer 2 day drive down through France.

Do we really need to hire a car and how far from Alicante airport?

Car hire is essential whilst staying at the villa. It takes about 70 minutes to drive from Alicante or Valencia airports, and once at the villa the car is needed to reach the beach area and the town of Javea. The public transport system is not wheelchair friendly and relying on taxis would be very expensive.

Can we get a hire car with hand controls fitted ?

Unfortunately, we currently do not know of any hire car companies on the Costa Blanca that fit hand controls to their cars.

Is my Blue Badge accepted in Spain ?

Yes you can use your badge in Spain. There are many disabled parking bays in and around Javea so please remember to take your badge with you.

Can we drink the tap water ?

The tap water is perfectly safe to drink. There has recently been a large investment in new water treatment and desalination plants throughout the Costa Blanca to ensure the quality of the water. The water though is very hard which is not to everyone’s liking, so it is best to supplement it with bottled water.

Will my mobile phone work in Spain ?

Most mobiles should work perfectly in Spain, but you can always check with your phone provider first. If you are on a pay-as-you-go tariff, top it up before you travel and remember to take your charger with you.

Do I need to pack a hairdryer ?

A hairdryer is provided at the villa. The only things you really need to pack are your beach towels. More details on our furnishings page.

What if I run out of my prescription medicines whilst in Spain ?

You should ensure that you take all medicines and supplies you need to cover you whilst in Spain. Carry all medicines in your cabin bag and keep them in the original containers. The first thing to do if you run out is try the farmacia (chemist shop). If you can’t get your medicine there, make an appointment to see a private doctor and explain your situation. They will be able to write you a prescription for more, but there will be a small charge for this service.

Can we bring our dog ?

Unfortunately, we do not allow pets to stay at the villa. Pets anywhere on the premises will result in immediate termination of occupancy and forfeiture of all payments.

Am I allowed to smoke ?

For comfort of all our guests, smoking is restricted to outside only. Smoking anywhere within the villa will result in immediate termination of occupancy and forfeiture of all payments.
